The government has decided to charge a license fee of Rs.3 for exporting a kilogram of tea.
Issuing a gazette, the Sri Lanka Tea Board said that this license fee must be paid at the time the Tea Commissioner approves the Customs Export Declaration.
This license fee has been imposed as per the Tea Export Tax and Control Orders of 2023 and every registered tea exporter has to pay the fee.
The Sri Lanka Tea Board said if the export order cannot be executed, the exporters will have the opportunity to recover the license fee.
This license fee should be credited to the capital fund established under the Tea Board Act.
