Sri Lanka’s tea production in June increased by 13.4% YoY to 22.9 MnKgs, contributing to the marginal improvement in the first half of 2023.
However, output was down by 13.6% compared to May.
The downward trend began in June and continued through July, August, and September.
The cumulative crop output for the first six months of the year totaled 134.4 Mngs, a 0.8% increase compared to 2022.
Tea exports experienced declines in volume and US dollar revenue, but rupee revenue increased by 28% due to currency depreciation.
