*1880 is the earliest record of Halloowella in the Ferguson's Directory. It does not appear in the FD of 1871-72 so it could have been established between 1873 to 1879, a period in which the FD's are unavailable.
The following is a message from the current owner sent on 14 June 2016.
"We have had the Halloowella estate in our family since the 1970’s and the entire 252acre estate is privately owned. Prior to us purchasing it, the estate was owned by Major Elton Lane. He built the beautiful bungalow and his own mausoleum where he is buried. He died on the estate on 17th December 1961. Following this the estate was bought by another party and fell into ruins. They then sold this to us and we have been looking after it ever since. Prashan Fernando"
